Please note the following recommendations:


Arriving in Bogotá

At the El Dorado International airport please take a certified taxi (yellow) to your hotel. Approximate rate to downtown Bogotá is COP$24,000.


Meeting venue:

The meeting will be held at Universidad de los Andes, building LL.

The address is Calle 19A # 1-37 Este, or 4.602352°, -74.065073°. See pic and map at Uniandes page.


Registration:

We are open for registration from Tuesday January 7 onwards. Please make sure you are pre registered and have payed the registration fee. If you wish to pay on arrival, you will be issues a bill, which must be payed at a local bank during bank hours! This can be complicated; we therefore strongly advise you pay in advance.


Workshops:

Workshops are open to all registered participants. Admittance to each workshop session will be limited to room capacity which is 87 people. Please bring your computers.


Wi-Fi:

Free Wi-Fi connection will be available.


Inaugural cocktail:

Try not to miss it! It will be held at the meeting venue, Wednesday January 8 from 6–8 pm.


Meeting Format:

The meeting will consist of single session for all participants in a large
auditorium (4 keynote addresses, 8 senior researcher talks, 16 postdocs/student
talks).


Posters:

We have plenty of room for posters. Please make sure you have submitted your poster abstract so we can include it in the Abstracts page. All posters should fit in a 1 x 1.50 m space (portrait orientation). Suggested poster size is B0 1 x 1.414 m or 39.4 x 55.7 in.


NEW Student Mixer:

On Thursday evening (7 pm), January 9, students are welcome to meet in a popular bar in downtown Bogotá to enjoy the local nightlife, make new friends and have a beer... or two! Please bring your name badge.

NEW Salsa party:

On Friday evening (7pm), January 10, all participants are welcome to meet in a salsa bar in downtown Bogotá to wrap up the meeting. Bring your dancing shoes!

Field Trips:

These will have extra cost, and although we will give priority to preregistered individuals in order of registration, we cannot confirm until you have payed. We will be accepting payment in cash prior to the inaugural cocktail on Jan 8. For more information, please contact the organiser of each individual field trip (see page).


Getting around:

Bogotá is a wonderful city, withy many things to see and enjoy. Do keep in mind that like any big city, there are unscrupulous individuals about. Check out the Bogotá page for more information.


Weather:

Bogotá, although tropical, is at 2,600 m elevation, meaning it has a temperate climate. Expect temperatures from 20º C during the day, and down to 7º C at night. Bring a sweater or jacquet.
